Inspired by this post from one of my favorite blogs, Homemade by Jill, I gave doll-making a try.
My daughters are obsessed with Mermaids and this adorable Mermaiden from Wee Wonderfuls was a joy to make. It was fun and easy from start to finish, and I even learned a new stitch: ladder stitch.
I loved making toys! And I am also curious about something: when you make something for one of your children, do you feel like you have to make the other one something too? I could not make just one of these mermaids, but the same happens if I make a dress, or a skirt, or a game… I always double-craft! And feel bad when I don’t. I wonder if this happens to anyone else?

My 3 1/2 year old loves mermaids too and this doll is so sweet. My sewing skills are very good though, but I’m going to check out this post.
There must be something with this age that makes girls love mermaids. My oldest is 3 as well, and she can’t get enough of them! I hope you enjoy making it and that your little girl enjoys playing with it just as much 🙂
cute!! i’m stopping by from the lovely poppy and would love for you to stop by and check out the huge giveaway that ends this thursday- http://thelovelypoppy.blogspot.com/2011/10/blog-follower-giveaway.html xoxo nicole

Hi Debi!! Thank You for stopping at my blog. I love yours; thanks for all the ideas and encouragement 🙂
Your love of toy making must come in very handy around the holidays and birthdays, or did you just discover this love? I love your mermaids. Love them. Well chosen fabric. Same goes here. If I make something for one I can’t even consider getting away with not making one for each. The children would not let that happen around here!
Thank you for your kind comment! And I so apologize I had not replied…
The more I work on projects like this, the more I find out I like it. I just finished Two Christmas dresses with their Two headbands, and now I am working on Four pajama pants… But it’s so fun I can’t stop myself. Good luck with your crafting 🙂
This is absolutely adorable! My best friends daughter loves, loves mermaids, Hmm…think I might be up sewing one more last minute gift tonight. Thanks for the inspiration
